Events in September

Updated: Aug 15

After the holidays, we have planned quite some events! Some events will be with Liz, some others will be with volunteers and English teachers. For the curious ones, we prepared a small overview:

First Wednesday of the month 04/09

Reading with Kids (with lovely volunteers)

First Thursday and third Thursday 05/09 + 19/09

Role-Playing Games to improve your English (with Jon, English teacher)

First Saturday 07/09

Book Club - Beginners (Treasure Island by R.L. Stevenson, Penguin Readers edition, level A1)

“Jim Hawkins is sailing on a ship with his friends. They are looking for treasure. But pirates are looking for the treasure too!”

Last Saturday 28/09 Already FULL

Book Club - Expert (I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman)

“Watched over by guards, these women have no memory of how they got there, no notion of time, and only vague recollections of their lives before. As the burn of electric light merges day into night and numberless years pass, a young girl - the fortieth prisoner - sits alone and outcast in the corner. But soon she will show herself to be the key to the others’ escape and survival in the strange world that awaits them above.” In the reviews are some spoilers so if you want to be surprised, I advise you to not look at all the reviews!

First Saturday of October 05/10

Book Club - Intermediate (Animal Farm: Not So Classic/Wordsworth Classics, level B1-B2)

"A farm is taken over by its overworked, mistreated animals. With flaming idealism and stirring slogans, they set out to create a paradise of progress, justice, and equality. Thus the stage is set for one of the most telling satiric fables ever penned –a razor-edged fairy tale for grown-ups that records the evolution from revolution against tyranny to a totalitarianism just as terrible."

Every month, we'll write an update about the upcoming events. We hope to see you there :) Just so you know, on the Events page, you'll find more information.
