Extra means GREAT events you don't see every month at The Little Bookshop. Some are organized by moi (Liz) and others by experts in their fields.
Writing Workshops
Every first Wednesday of the month, Damla will organize fantastic writing workshops (2 hours long!). For every workshop, she has prepared different themes. The first session in February is called "Shout your Voice to Write!" And you can find more information here.

Meet Damla - The Writing Expert
"Hi, my name is Damla—a literary nomad wandering in-between languages and cultures, and your (travel) guide in the world of letters.
Born and raised in a beautiful Mediterranean city, my curiosity towards mathematics and literature brought me initially to Istanbul where I studied Economics (B.A.) and ComparativeLiterature (M.A.). In the course of the years, my desire to deepen my knowledge on literary analysis grew further; I took the road to Berlin to study General and Comparative Literature (PhD). During my doctoral studies, I focused on contemporary poetry and protest cultures of several countries and published academic essays on the topic. I also attended creative reading and writing workshops organized in English, German, and Turkish languages.
In 2024 I started a new chapter of my life in Bretagne, this time grâce à l’amour, where I (re-)find my muses calling me to write poetry and prose. The long walks that I take with my puppy in the forestry inspires me for my writing projects and the research that I do on the craft of writing.¨
Valentine's book edition: speed dating + literary quiz 27/02
The month of February is the month of Valentine's Day. And we wanted to do something with this because we all LOVE books.
The idea
Everyone brings 1 book he/she wants to talk about. You get 5 minutes to discuss your books with each other and then the buzzer goes and you talk with the next person. There will be a list to fill in and something will happen with this list (BUT we cannot tell you yet). We will end the evening with a literary quiz - this will be done in 2 or 3 teams (depending how many book dragons sign up) and the winners will get a small price.

"Nuits de la Lecture" - Silent Book Club 23/01
Since 2017, the French Ministry of Culture organizes "Nuits de la Lecture" to celebrate the pleasure in reading books. Every year there's a theme, this year they've chosen:
"This theme refers firstly to intimate literature: to the heritage bequeathed to us by our ancestors, to what has been transmitted to us, or not, through the generations and which the author chooses to evoke in his work. ; a body, possessions (including books), a culture, sometimes traumas, heritage then understood as the own history of our family, real or constructed, constantly updated."
To celebrate this event, we like to start the first evening/night with our first Silent Book Club. And now you might wonder... what does this mean?
We will be reading (our own books) from 19.30 until 21.30 in the shop. There will be a small break for the ones who'd like to discuss some of the books but the main goal is to read. So are you ready for our first Silent Book Club?

Tarot Reading Sessions
One of my favorite book series is "All Our Hidden Gifts" by Caroline O'Donoghue. In these books, tarot cards are important to the story. So when Laurel proposed to do some tarot reading sessions in English, I immediately said yes!
We'll start with three sessions in October 2024 from 18.00:

Meet Laurel, the tarot reader/clairvoyant
